A good meatball recipes can continue to be an affordable recipe week after week for your family. I say week after week because it really is a versatile recipe. My top two favorite versions of this recipes is to serve the meatballs over spaghetti and pasta sauce. The other one is a good meatball sub, still with pasta sauce. If you don't have any sub rolls I substitute toasted bread and eat it as an open faced sandwich.

My family loves meatballs and this is our favorite recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. Ground Beef

  • 1 egg

  • A splash of milk

  • 1 Sleeve of Saltines Crackers (you could really use whatever cracker your family prefers)

  • 1/2 cup ketchup

  • Chopped garlic to taste

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

  • Oregano

  • Red Pepper Flakes

Preheat an oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Mix all your ingredients together. I always make sure to get the egg whisked up in the bowl before I really start mixing everything else. Some folks like my mother swears the only way to make a good meatball is to mix it with your hands. Now I personally CANNOT stand the feeling of mixing raw meat with my hands. So I just use a solid spoon or spatula to mix. Choose your mixing method at your own risk. Once that is done you'll want to have a large cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil ready. Start rolling your meatballs into about 1 inch balls. Place 3 - 4 across on the cookie sheet until full.

Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the middle. This usually takes 20-25 minutes depending on the actual size of your meatballs.

Let cool  for subs, or instantly mix into a nice pasta sauce for spaghetti! Another idea is to serve them as appetizers on toothpicks. This is a great option for any event plus fills your guests bellies.

Are meatballs already a staple of your family's menu? Did you try my recipe? If so let me know how you liked it, or how it could be improved!
