Tips to reduce weight after child birth

Topic: Tips to reduce weight after child birth

Right after child birth you should not try to reduce weight by eating less or exersice until you havE your post natal check up or your GP advises you to. This is bEcause in this state the body has lost a lot of energy and blood which can cause weakeness and paleness. Especially if you opt for breast feeding the baby then wieght reduction strategies sound silly at the moment. After approx 6-8 weeks of child birth you caN start a little exercise like walk ad pelvic floor exercise. Mean while eat fruits and vegetables. Do not eat fatty, junk, sugary and fast food. Eat whole grains cereals and pulses.  Hydrate your self enough.
These measures can allow you to get back to your normal figure again.
And one important tip!
Breast feed your baby as it is equal to walking 11 km in 1 hour.. I read it somewhere..

Yes, I agree with you on the breast feeding part. It can totally reduce the weight gained during pregnancy. Also, eating nutrient rich food is a nice way to shed extra pounds without compromising health especially if you are breastfeeding. Increase in greens and fruits can also help.

This is so true in my case as well. I readily shed the gained weight bu eating fruits an green veges and totally limiying fried and junk food. You can drink lots of water to flush  out the  waste substances out of body

Re: Tips to reduce weight after child birth

We all know that while being pregnant, we gain weight 2x or more than we least expect it..
But we should worry on it..we can lose weight if we are determined to do it..
As my doctor says, breastfeeding can help you loose weight, but should not depend on it.

We don't need pressure to ourselves by over doing it..we should take it one step at a time.
Weigh first: find your preferred target weight to lose. You could check weekly or monthly. Have a notebook ready for your weight loss achievement.
Go eat a healthy diet (fruits, vegetables, oats) and drink plenty of water (try lemon water).
Eat smaller but frequent meals.
If you will eat carbohydrated (starchy) foods, take it 30 minutes before you do strenuous exercise.
Do mini workout for 10 minutes while the baby naps or you could have a stroll in the park with your baby (walking is good form of exercise too!)
Watch also your calorie intake.

I guess I'm an exception. I never gained weight (how I wish though) when I was pregnant. It's just my usual weight plus the weight of my baby in my tummy. And now my problem is I got thinner because I'm breastfeeding my daughter. What should I do?

Re: Tips to reduce weight after child birth

I took my baby for a long walk around the block every evening, which helped me get back into shape, and I generally tried to stay quite active. I breastfed and walked the baby up and down the passage in the night when she wouldn't sleep. I lost the weight quickly - but it wasn't until she was quite a bit older that I really started looking like my old self again. It sometimes just takes time.

Re: Tips to reduce weight after child birth

After giving birth I need not do exercises and diets because like you Baby Margarette it never doubles my weight. it's just my normal weight plus the baby. What I am doing now is maintaining regular meals plus the fruits and vegetables. I'm not a breastfeeding mom, I would suggest seeing your doctor regarding your health concern. :)

Increasing fiber in the diet can also help to brush off unwanted wants within the intestines. Broccolis are the best option for cleansing the intestines. Also, if ever you're feeling really bloated, try and drink a cup of green tea to help regulate metabolism smile

Re: Tips to reduce weight after child birth

I do breastfeeding to both of my children until 1. And yes that is a very effective way to reduce weight but make sure to eat healthy as well since the baby is relying on the nutrients that they are getting from you.
