Topic: Parenting styles

We do have different parenting styles. Which of these are you?

Authoritative Parenting

The authoritative parenting style is about setting limits, reasoning with kids, and responsive to their emotional needs.

Kids raised by authoritative parents are more likely to become independent, self-reliant, socially accepted, academically successful, and well behaved.

Neglectful Parenting

Neglectful parenting, is a style characterized by a lack of responsiveness to a child's  needs. Uninvolved parents makes few to no demands of their children and they are often indifferent, dismissive or even completely neglectful.

This is one of the most harmful styles of parenting that can be used on a child.

Permissive

Permissive parenting is a type of parenting style characterized  by low  demands with high responsiveness.
Permissive parents tend to be very loving yet provide  few guidelines and rules.

These parents do not expect mature behavior from their  children and often seem more like a  friend than a parental figure.

Authoritarian

Authoritarian parenting is a style characterized by high demands and low responsiveness.
Parents with an authoritarian style have very high expectations of their children, yet provide very little in the way of feedback and nurturance.

Mistakes tend to be punished harshly.

Re: Parenting styles

I guess I'm into permissive parenting. I just want my daughter to see me as her best friend too. I don't have so much rules at home and do mild discipline on my child. I easily give in if I see her crying, so I will explain her wrong actions and will hug her after.

Re: Parenting styles

I'm a parent who is into semi-authoritative and semi-permissive.

I am a lenient type of parent but if the urgency of being authoritative is needed, I am force to do it.

My children have already adapted this kind of my parenting style.
