Babies shouldn't drink water until 6 months because they get all  the hydration that they need during breast feeding or formula feeding. Until then you may now  give them sips of water.

Specially when the baby started eating solid food.

Yes that's right.. Until 6 months babies don't really feel thirsty or need to drink water because all their necessities oare fulfilled by the milk they drink..but gradually as their needs increase so do the need for water arise then we should give them water in adequate amount.

I agree. As recommended by World Health Organization (WHO) and Department of Health (DOH). Breastmilk is 88% water while formula milk has water. Water from both these sources are sufficient already.
