41 weeks pregnant what to expect
Topic: 41 weeks pregnant what to expect
It is difficult not to worry if your due date comes and goes and you are still tremendously pregnant (particularly when well-meaning family members and friends continue calling to check on your standing!). But do not worry -- you will not be blessed forever.
The means that your health care provider utilizes to induce labor will rely on the state of the condition of your cervix. If your cervix has not begun to soften, efface (thin out), or dilate (open), it's considered "unripe," or not yet prepared for labor. In that situation, your supplier will use either hormones or "mechanical" approaches to ripen your cervix prior to the induction. Occasionally these will wind up jump-starting your labor too. Depending on your situation, the processes may consist of stripping or rupturing your drains or even employing drugs such as oxytocin (Pitocin) to start your own receptor. If these and other approaches don't work, you'll wind up having a c-section.
In the meantime, make sure to inform your physician or midwife immediately if a baby moves slow or if some other fluid is leaking out of the vagina.
